Top tier customer service! Everyone was super nice! Food was seasoned really well, however the butter beans were a tad but too salty. If you have high blood pressure you should stay away from those. We ordered ribs, fish and fried chicken & they were all really good. The cornbread was definitely on point. The collards & yellow rice were also yummy as was the Phillysteak eggroll. If your looking for good soul food this is definitely the go to spot!
Jul 17, 2026 · Google ReviewI dont usually leave reviews but this place is a hidden gem! I did not stay inside to eat but I almost came back to ask who is back in the kitchen!???? The food was seasoned to perfection! The staff were delightful. Will definitely be back
Jun 30, 2026 · Google ReviewIf you KNOW me, you know I don’t hand out food compliments easy… and Southern food spots? Baby… I’m picky picky. So when I tell you this place PUT. THEY. FOOT. IN. IT. I mean that with my whole chest. 😄 While visiting family in my husband’s hometown, one of the cousins said we had to try Taste the Flavors. I actually had to convince my husband to skip the local BBQ joint and come here instead… and let me tell you — BEST decision of the trip. No contest. From the moment we walked in, it felt like home. The sides alone?? Lawwwd. Green beans, collards, black-eyed peas, cabbage, butter beans — all seasoned like somebody’s grandma was back there tasting every pot. Not bland. Not “cafeteria-ish.” REAL flavor. The kind that tastes like Sunday dinner after church. And don’t even get me started on the rice options… Yellow rice, rice & peas, white rice, AND that pork perlo rice?? Whew. Super savory, full of flavor, and I heard they rotate it with chicken and turkey versions too. You already know I had to try a scoop. Ms. Teresa took such good care of us — and come to find out she knew half my husband’s family! Felt like we were eating with cousins, not at a restaurant. And fun little full-circle moment… this building and the car wash stalls next door used to be my husband’s grandma’s laundromat and car wash. So being there felt extra special. Like history + good food = heart full. Now let’s talk proteins because BABYYYYY… They did NOT come to play: Fried pork chops Curry goat Oxtails Beef stew Baked chicken Fried chicken Pork ribs Hamburger steak in gravy Roast turkey wings Even stewed chicken feet (for the real ones 😂) And every single tray looked like somebody’s auntie cooked it with love. But here’s what REALLY sent me over the edge… The seafood. Cooked. To. Order. Fresh oysters. Shrimp. A big selection of fish. Not sitting under a heat lamp either — they drop it fresh when you order. Hot, crispy, seasoned just right. Or Grilled or steamed Just as you LOVE it. That kind of seafood that makes you close your eyes after the first bite and nod your head slow like “yep… this the one.” You can taste the difference when it’s made right then and there. Nothing frozen-tasting. Nothing rubbery. Just fresh, hot, and perfectly done. My personal favorite though? That curry goat. Listen. Moist. Tender. Falling apart. Full Caribbean flavor. Seasoned ALL the way through. Straight up slap-yo-mama good. No exaggeration. 😝 And the collards? Taste like mine at home. Black-eyed peas? Perfect texture. Rice & peas? Flavorful with that deep, savory kick. They are NOT scared of seasoning back there — and I respect that. Portions are generous. Prices are super reasonable. Food is made with love. You walk out full, happy, and already planning your next visit. If you’re anywhere near this place, GO. Don’t debate. Don’t overthink. Just go EAT. Thank y’all for the hospitality and the excellence. We WILL be back — hungry and ready next time. ❤️
Feb 7, 2026 · Google ReviewStumbled upon this restaurant and so glad I did! All of the staff are super friendly as soon as you walk in the door. The food was well seasoned and portions were on point. I had turkey wings, rutabaga and green beans. Finger licking good! So yourself a favor and get an amazing plate of soul food!
May 1, 2026 · Google ReviewDon’t get me wrong, the food is phenomenal but my absolute favorite aspect of Taste The Flavor is the incredibly outstanding customer service. From the initial greeting when you walk into the restaurant until you leave, it’s quite literally like interacting with the jovial & funny cousins that you always want to be around. This staff is second to none. Their genuine kindness, easy nature, quick wit, & honesty is the epitome of quality customer service. My mom & I immediately felt like we were enjoying a meal with family. We have officially adopted the staff as family! Absolutely love it here & we will return to enjoy great food & fellowship with our new “cousins!” Now let’s talk about the food! This is soul food done RIGHT. Too many times, a “soul food” restaurant lacks actual soul…aka love & proper seasoning. That’s not an issue at Taste the Flavor. The food is seasoned perfectly & the portion sizes are beyond generous. It’s like having Sunday dinner at Big Mama’s house. The vegetables (collards, cabbage, beans, etc) are usually cooked with meat so if you are vegetarian ensure you asked about the preparation before ordering. I asked & was informed that the vegetable selection was cooked with turkey on that day. There are several options for vegetarians to choose from. Major kudos for this because vegetarian options at soul food restaurants can be hard. **I think I may have developed an addiction to their Hoppin John & potato salad lol** Oooooh I would be remiss if I didn’t talk about the speciality lemonade drinks! OMG absolutely scrumptious 😍🥰 I had the apple flavored lemonade (it’s green) & I don’t remember which one mom had (it’s red). I may also have developed a special attachment to the speciality lemonades as well!
