Striper
Season is open!
The stripers are deep this time of year in 40-50 foot. fish with a Carolina rig with live herring or live shad. Fish right above the Fish for your best results. Also, this time of year there’s a chance to see some schooling activity under the seagulls. Cast quarter ounce buck tails and soft plastic jigs like the Charlie Brewer Slider Tennessee shad for your best results.
Bass
This is a great time to fish the cooper river with live shiners. Fish a slip cork along the grass lines in the mouths of the rice field breaks and along the river bank.
Crappie & Bream
Most of the Crappie and bream on the lower lake are on brush piles in 25-35 ft. Cast jigs (Charlie Brewer Sliders) or minnows under a cork for the Crappie. Making long cast to prevent spooking the fish will get you more bites.
For the bream, fish with red worms or crickets, Fish vertical right over the brush for your best results. Look for shallower brush 15-20 ft on lake Marion for the crappie.
Catfish
With the water cooling off plenty of fish are moving into the deeper 45-50 plus ft. Santee cooper rigs with fresh herring are the bait of choice.
The redfish and speckled trout bite is fire on the cooper river. Soft plastics like the new Charlie Brewer Slider Electric Chicken will be a good choice. Fish the creek mouths and grass lines.
