Betty WalshMy husband and I stop at Clarke’s probably 6 times a year on our way back and forth to Florida. We have been stopping there since 2015. We stopped as usual on Wednesday June 24. Our server was very nice and she took our order for drinks and the dinner. They do make an excellent bourbon Manhattan! We ordered the salmon special which we have had probably 4 times before. The cranberry salad as usual was excellent. When the entree came out it looked like it was in a different sized dish. The salmon was good but the rest of dish was lukewarm. Spinach soggy and other part clumpy. We both ate the salmon but passed on the other ingredients. We had the turtle dessert which was also great as usual. We did not mention anything to our waitress due to the fact that the kitchen knew what they were serving. We will go back and go back to the old standby Low country stir fry. One experience will not keep us from coming back. But it could stop a first timer from returning.

Our2PassportsClark's Restaurant — A 1946 Gem Worth Pulling Over For After 500 miles in the car today we decided to pull over for a reset and something to eat. A quick Google Maps search landed us at Clark's Restaurant, walking distance from our hotel. Sometimes the best meals come from the spots you stumble into by accident. Walking in we were genuinely caught off guard. The decor has that old but elevated feel you cannot quite manufacture, and we soon learned why. This place has been open since 1946. That kind of history shows up in the details. We sat in the lounge area and were immediately welcomed by the bartender Melvin, who told us to sit anywhere, handed over menus, and took our drink orders. The menu was a single page, but every option sounded delicious. I went with the chicken pesto gnocchi. Shannon ordered the hamburger fried steak with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Food arrived quickly, hot, and tasted as good as it looked. Comfort food done right with no shortcuts. The chances we will ever be back this way again on our global travels are slim, but if you happen to be reading this and you are anywhere near here, we absolutely recommend stopping in. Lauren WilsonWe had a wonderful experience! The menu offers a great variety of options, and everything we tried was delicious. The fried chicken was perfectly cooked, the collard greens were full of flavor, and the steak was among the best I’ve had. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the gift shop adds a nice touch with its upscale feel and unique items. A great place for a meal and a little shopping. We will definitely be back!

RHODA NELSONDelicious! Well rounded lunch menu. One dessert as appetizer one after meal! (Hey, we’re all grownups-we can do that! 🤣) Calm, peaceful atmosphere. Gift shop has practical and pretty as well as lovely novelty goodies. Definitely will keep them in mind for next trip north on I95!!
