Clark's Restaurant — A 1946 Gem Worth Pulling Over For After 500 miles in the car today we decided to pull over for a reset and something to eat. A quick Google Maps search landed us at Clark's Restaurant, walking distance from our hotel. Sometimes the best meals come from the spots you stumble into by accident. Walking in we were genuinely caught off guard. The decor has that old but elevated feel you cannot quite manufacture, and we soon learned why. This place has been open since 1946. That kind of history shows up in the details. We sat in the lounge area and were immediately welcomed by the bartender Melvin, who told us to sit anywhere, handed over menus, and took our drink orders. The menu was a single page, but every option sounded delicious. I went with the chicken pesto gnocchi. Shannon ordered the hamburger fried steak with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Food arrived quickly, hot, and tasted as good as it looked. Comfort food done right with no shortcuts. The chances we will ever be back this way again on our global travels are slim, but if you happen to be reading this and you are anywhere near here, we absolutely recommend stopping in. Jun 26, 2026 · Google ReviewExcellent surprise. This vintage Inn and restaurant is nestled between gas stations and other more modern restaurants. I am so glad we gave it a try. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming. The gift shop was dangerous with unique stock and reasonable prices. The service was smooth and professional. The food was out quickly, hot and Excellent. Best fries I've had in years. The coffee was ruch and robust. Do yourself a favor and stop in. #Clark's #Inn #vintage #burger # fries #coffee #colonial #rustic #bowties
May 7, 2026 · Google ReviewThis is the areas most famous restaurant and Inn. Variety of selections for everyone is available, from seafood to salad to steak, they have it all. The apple crisp with ice cream was my favorite. I got the seafood platter blackened, which was good, except the flounder was mushy, it would have been better fried I think. Overall a nice dinner on mother's day.
May 12, 2026 · Google ReviewIn the door and sat quickly. We had the lunch specials menu, we placed our order and waited a little time then understood why. Everything was cooked fresh and was delicious. Our server Sylvia S was attentive and pleasant. Well worth the stop!
Apr 12, 2026 · Google ReviewWhat a wonderful place! My husband and I stopped at Clark’s for dinner on our way to Florida from North Carolina. The building was so pretty, and that was our only clue to the wonderful dining experience in the restaurant. The bartender made the absolute best old fashioned and was so friendly. Our server, Zoe, was so helpful, kind, and friendly. The food was scrumptious! The gift store was like a wonderland. Our experience was so pleasant, we decided to stay the night in the hotel, which provided generous space, a comfortable and large king sized bed, nice amenities, and a great bathroom. Additionally, the breakfast that is included with the room was not like any we’ve had in the United States. Barbara welcomed us to the dining room and the three ladies, I remember Erica’s name, were efficient and friendly. We ordered from a menu and were served a hot, delicious, cooked for me country breakfast complete with fried potatoes, grits, and a buttermilk biscuit! We will be sure to make a Clark’s a stop on our way both north and south. An unforgettable stay!
