My husband, daughter, and I ate here for dinner last night. The service wasn't bad, although we did ask our server for more biscuits and never did receive them (we didn't ask a second time once we realized he forgot that we asked for them). The "table talker" thing (or whatever it's called) was pretty nasty, in that it had wet food (it was definitely recent because it wasn't yet dried, and I think it was jam/jelly) smeared all over it. But the worst part was the non-food "addition" to my chicken n' dumplins that I wasn't even aware of until this morning when I re-heated my leftovers for a late breakfast/early lunch. I was trying to chew a bite of what I thought was food, only to realize when I spit it out into a paper towel it was actually paper of some sort (like parchment or wax paper). It was wadded up, so it was well disguised in the food, but it definitely could have been a choking hazard had I not noticed it and attempted to swallow it (I am attaching a photo of it, but the photo is what it looks like all unfolded). I did call the restaurant immediately upon discovering it and spoke with the manager. He did apologize and offered to send me a "card to make up for the meal", but his concern for the fact that it was in there and that someone could seriously have choked on it did seem a bit lacking in my opinion. Not to mention, that wouldn't break down in the body, so passing it could be interesting. I can't imagine that I am the ONLY person this happened to, but I guess it's possible. The sad thing is, this isn't the first time we have had something in our food that didn't belong there (from this location, too)... A year or two ago we ordered a family meal that included mashed potatoes, and right in the middle of the container of mashed potatoes was an ENTIRE peeled apple (obviously that's another food item, but it still didn't belong in the mashed potatoes!). How odd...

Jun 28, 2026 · Google ReviewSurprisingly not crowded on the 4th of July! Service was great. Food came out quick. The honey fried chicken plate was enough for 2 people. The biscuits are always fresh and hot.
Jul 4, 2026 · Google ReviewWell we have dodged a bullet and saved Uncle Herschel. I guess that's good. There's not a lot you can say about the cracker barrel. It's the cracker barrel. But they've got great food. I can't get away from the breakfast items so I really can't talk a whole lot about what else they have. It seems that I order breakfast every time I enter into this place. I guess it's because it's great
May 15, 2026 · Google ReviewTo start off I want to say Jess B was great. That being said, I really didn't expect to make this review. I wanted to say I really enjoyed the food and it was overwhelmingly impressive. This just wasn't true. The Pros. The price was very good.the bacon was terrific .The space and atmosphere was good. The peg game at the table was good. Jess B was great. The coffee was great. This is the part I didn't expect to write. The food was just not good. The biscuits tasted old and weren't very fluffy. I don't know what was wrong with the gravy. It was simply gross. The home fries were more like a mash potato. Not very pleasant. The pancakes were the biggest upset. I honestly thought we were gonna be blown away. They tasted just like the Pearl milling company just add water pancakes. Down to the texture the way they looked they were exactly like a just add water pancakes. We came specifically for the pancakes. Just overall disappointed. I thought this place was a step above an IHOP or a waffle House. It's it's really not that great I'm very disappointed. It really wasn't anybody's fault. It's just another chain breakfast place where I went in thinking it was something different. I blame myself. The staff was great. The atmosphere was great. The wait times were low. The food came fast. It's just you go in expecting more than a chain breakfast spot. And it really is just a fancy chain breakfast spot. The gift shop does little to nothing for me even though it had a lot of cool things in it. It's just a chain breakfast spot with a nifty gift shop. And it's not like I ordered crazy things over expecting. I ordered the standards, the basics. It was all just okay at best.
