I reserved three rooms at this Red Roof Inn for my employees while they were working out of town. Unfortunately, the experience was completely unacceptable from start to finish. When my crew arrived, it took nearly two hours just to check in. Once they finally got into their rooms, they immediately discovered that none of the air conditioners were running. All three rooms were extremely hot, humid, and damp. We own a professional restoration company, so my Senior Project Manager, Keith, inspected the rooms using a professional moisture meter. The relative humidity was extremely high, and both the drywall and baseboards measured 100% moisture content. There was also standing water on portions of the floors. In addition to the excessive moisture, every room had extensive damage, dirty furniture, stained bedding, flies, and what appeared to be visible mold or other microbial growth. These rooms were simply not fit for occupancy. I immediately called the hotel requesting different rooms so my exhausted crew could get some much-needed sleep before starting their night shift. Instead of offering a solution, Owner Mr. Patel was rude and dismissive. His response was simply, "Just change hotels." When I asked if other rooms were available, he stated that all of the rooms were in the same condition. He also told me the hotel had experienced water damage approximately two weeks earlier and that all of the rooms had been affected. Because no acceptable rooms were available, my employees had to spend another two hours finding another hotel. In total, they lost approximately four hours that should have been spent resting before working throughout the night. To make matters even worse, I was still charged for all three unusable rooms. Those charges are now being disputed with my bank. The front desk employee was courteous and did her best to help us, but she explained that she was actually a housekeeper who had been working a 12-hour shift. I felt sorry for her because she was put in a very difficult position. As professionals in the restoration and indoor environmental industry, we know the difference between normal wear and serious moisture damage. Based on our observations, the moisture meter readings, and what the owner himself told us about the recent water damage, these rooms should not have been rented to paying guests until they had been properly dried, repaired, and restored. Charging guests for rooms in this condition and then telling them to "just change hotels" is unacceptable. My employees were forced to lose four hours of valuable rest before an overnight work shift, and I was still charged for rooms that were not suitable for occupancy. I cannot recommend this property and would strongly advise others to stay elsewhere.
