Spring in Santee Cooper Country has arrived. Step outside to smell the fresh flowers blooming, take note of the crystal blue skies, and feel that warm South Carolina sun on your face. We can’t think of anything more wonderful than spring here in Santee Cooper Country! To help you fully bask in the season, we’ve got two flower-filled festivals that your whole family will love!

Festival of Roses

Kick off the weekend with the Festival of Roses Street Dance on May 3rd from 6 PM to 10 PM. This community event brings people together for live music, tasty food truck options, and adult beverages for the 21+ crowd.

On Saturday, the Festival of Roses provides a lovely day packed full of delicious food, vibrant flowers, and joyful activities! As visitors make their entrance, they’ll be greeted by the stunning sight of our blooming roses. This delightful experience takes place at the Edisto Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg County from 10 AM to 7 PM.

Guests will enjoy a vivacious lineup of performances featuring dancers, singers, and musicians spanning all age groups. Bring along your picnic gear and settle in for an unforgettable showcase.

On Sunday May 5th, join us for community wide church service from 12 PM to 6 PM and share in an evening of prayer and songs led by local churches in the gardens. We’ll save you a seat!

Iris Festival

Located in the world-famous Swan Lake Iris Gardens in Sumter County, the Iris Festival is South Carolina’s oldest continuous festival. It is even ranked as a favorite and one of the top festivals in the southeast!

From May 23rd to May 26th, the festival offers a diverse array of excitement. Enjoy live concerts, view the arts and crafts displays, check out the plant and flower exhibitions, and stop by the antique and classic car showcases. Children can also join in various contests and enjoy activities specifically designed for them!

The festivities kick off with the traditional “Crowning of The King & Queen,” followed by the eagerly anticipated “Taste at the Gardens” on May 23rd at 6 PM. This culinary extravaganza showcases the palate-pleasing talents of top local restaurants, chefs, and caterers, accompanied by vibrant music. Don’t miss this exquisite South Carolina favorite!
