Beth DavisEntrance fee to the park is $5. The trails and grounds were well maintained. The grounds are dog friendly. I noticed some picnic tables near the parking area. The trails were well marked with color coordinated signage. A map was offered by the gate guard who was super friendly. My only suggestions would be: 1. They need more waste cans. I only saw one which was overflowing with trash, 2. The main restroom closest to the parking lot was locked and I had to find another one further away. and 3. They open at 9AM. It would be great if they could open a little earlier because it gets hot out not too much later. I have a boxer and he doesn't do too well in the heat. If they opened a little earlier, we would be able to fit in more time at the park before it gets too hot outside.

Brittany B.Old Santee Canal Park has absolutely beautiful views. The water, towering trees, and wide-open sky make it feel peaceful and untouched. Every part of the trail offers something scenic, whether you’re looking out over the canal or walking beneath the shaded paths. We visited with the kids and loved how calm and spacious it felt — a perfect place for an easy walk, nature appreciation, and photos. A quiet Lowcountry gem that’s definitely worth the visit.

Kelli KWe had a great time visiting even though it was hot. The museum was small, but very educational and the interpretive center had quite a few videos to choose from with different historical topics about the area. We requested a tour of the house, which was lived in until the 80's so was modernized, but it was cool to see. There were 8 rooms and a hall and it was cool to see a tastefully modernized historical home. We decided to take the trails and make a big loop. The trails are fairly well kept and easy to follow. They were very peaceful and we had a really nice time. We'll be back to check out Fort Fairlawn and rent canoes for a different view of the canal.

Sabrina T.A little hidden gem tucked away in Moncks Corner. We found it accidentally during covid times when we were going stir crazy and needed to get away without going too far from home. At first we only knew about their walking trails. They're really fun and have varying levels of style. They are part gravel, boardwalk and ground. The majority of the paths are wider but there is a stretch where you actually have an incline and a very narrow path. Fun for younger kids that need a little bit of a challenge. There's a museum as well that we actually didn't know about until a couple years later because when we originally started going only the trails were open. Fast forward to today and we realized there was a trail that we had no idea existed!! It's just left of their museum. It's got several trails to choose from Mostly flat, gravel, about 3 to 4 feet (ish) wide for almost the entire trail. There are some benches for breaks. Historical signs ti yell you little about the trail you're walking. There isn't much beyond the nature around you as far as what they're is to see, but if you want to go on a nice stroll it's a great path. We did see deer, a small turtle and some birds. Mostly shaded, the very beginning and end of the path have the least shade but everything else is pretty much shaded. Not much of a breeze, which on the paths on the opposite side might be more likely as they are along the river... and then there are some more interior along the swamp area that don't really get any. So summer time can be a scorcher and if you don't tolerate heat the fall/ spring/ winter might be more comfortable.

Lauren BerryMy husband and I had a great time exploring the trails and looking for wildlife. The trails are well maintained and mostly shaded. The beautiful cypress trees were especially awesome! Be sure to bring plenty of water when exploring the park. Most of the facilities are located near the parking area which is quite a ways from some areas of the park.
