Latest Fishing Report

Season is open.
Look for the schools of fish in 35-50 ft creeks and channels. Fish Carolina rigs with live herring and shad. We are hearing some reports of fish being caught trolling Stretch 25 and Alabama Rigs. Some schooling activity. Looks for the birds diving on baits. You may not see the fish busting but they will be deeper. Cast swim baits and bucktails.

The bite on the Cooper River has been good. Early morning and late afternoon top water has been fast and furious. Look for fish and busting schools of menhaden. Zara spooks and white flukes working the best.

This month is the start of catching lots of big bream on 20-35 ft brush piles. Tight-line crickets or small pieces of shrimp. The bite on the Cooper River and Santee River have also been good. Fish the breaks and deep points on the Cooper and standing on submerged structure on the Santee.

Crappies are still on brush piles in 10 to 25 feet. As the water temperature starts to cool, they will gradually go deeper in the 20 to 30-foot depth. Fish jigs tipped with minnows vertical over the brush piles and you can also cast small jigs to the brush.

Lots of catfish in the 25-35 ft creeks. Drift with Santee Cooper rigs with cut herring, shad, and fresh shrimp.
